For some reason I felt compelled to make a display for them, so I built a tree out of wire and polymer clay. This took way longer than the FSMs themselves and became a project in itself, but still worth it. Details on its construction after the break.
I needed some sort of base for the tree, so I decided to take advantage of some otherwise-mostly-useless low-quality wire I've been carrying around in my craft supplies for years. I was kinda flying by the seat of my pants here, but I bent it into a very basic tree form. The black coating on the wire was rubbing off on my hands, and the wire was almost too soft for the job, but it worked. Since the size of this thing was constrained by the dimensions of my oven (to bake the polymer clay), I measured the longest branches to make sure they'd fit.
Next I wrapped the thicker parts in aluminum foil....
Working with the clay was fun...and tedious. It wasn't until I was mostly finished that I realized the branches were sagging a bit under the weight of the clay, but it still held fine. Not to self: use a stronger wire for the frame next time.
Add a little paint, and we've got a tree.
